Feedback

Today we showed our films to year 11s and 12s and they all gave positive feedback. One comment I thought was a really rewarding comment: Choice of location excellent- it can't be easy trying to film 19th century in a 21st century town and make it convincing. I thought this was good because we did found it hard to film without any cars going by, and there were lots of people walking down the alley the night we filmed.

Another comment I liked was: Liked the music a lot- set the scene. I think this was another positive comment because we too love the music and it really worked with the film because without it, the film would not be that scary. I think the music was also timed well with some of the shots which was effective, particularly the part with the knife when it dings.

Name of the film

We decided to call our film Ripper because we liked the way it sounded and because our film is based on Jack the Ripper we decided to use his surname. We thought this made the film sound more scary and mysterious because the audience will want to know why the film is called Ripper and what Ripper is. We chose to do the credits in red because they had connotations of blood, death and violence. We also chose the font so it looked similar to handwriting as if Jack the Ripper had written it himself. Our credits for our name are different to the film title but we think it looks effective because it makes the title stand out from the rest of the names.

Epilepsy Warning

We decided to begin our film with a warning for photosensitive epilepsy because it will be featuring flashing lights. At the beginning when our production company names appear there is flashing lights and Dom's sister told her that we should include it.

This information below is taken from Microsoft game website:

Photosensitive Seizure Warning A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause these "photosensitive epileptic seizures" while watching video games. These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including light headedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects.

Having read this I think our film does need the warning because the slightest flash could start a seizure in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Below is an image taken from our film of our warning:

This is the software we used for our music instead of Garage Band called Cubase Essential 5.
